Keywords Participating Organizations Report Details Summary This report presents a brief description of the application of atmospheric optical models and digital image processing techniques to the task of generating images representing various urban visual air quality levels. It contains examples of the photographic output from the use of this process on images from Portland, Oregon, Chicago, and Atlanta that may be used as input for generating similar products for future studies. The report came about as a result of the need to generate photographs representative of a variety of visual air quality conditions for use in contingent valuation studies of the economic benefits of improved ambient air quality.
