Plan EJ 2014

EPA has released its strategy, Plan EJ 2014, to protect people’s health and the environment in communities overburdened by pollution.

Environmental Justice (EJ) is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. Read more about Environmental Justice

The Environmental Justice Program Strategic Roadmap is the Region's first attempt to systematically plan and design EJ Program implementation in a way that can be tracked and measured to illustrate our progress Region-wide. The Roadmap sets forth Region 10's EJ goals, objective and milestones, focuses resources where they matter most for communities, and will be used to evaluate Region 10's progress and/or barriers. News

On May 2, 2013, EPA issued two documents outlining the first steps the Agency is taking to consider environmental justice and to engage overburdened communities in the permitting process. EPA’s enhanced engagement efforts are aimed at encouraging and removing barriers to the meaningful participation of overburdened communities in the permitting process. The agency’s efforts only apply to EPA-issued permits. For more information, visit: http://www.epa.gov/environmentaljustice/plan-ej/permitting.html.
