Asbestos in Demolition and Renovation

National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Asbestos (NESHAP)

The asbestos NESHAP applies to work practices during demolitions and renovations of all structures, installations, and buildings (excluding residential buildings that have four or fewer dwelling units). The regulations require owners and contractors to notify state and local agencies and/or the EPA Regional Office before all demolitions, or before renovations of buildings that contain asbestos above a certain threshold level.
