Elmendorf Air Force Base RCRA Permit Information

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) invites you to comment on the draft Hazardous Waste Facility Management Permit for the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (DRMO), Treatment Storage and Disposal Facility (TSDF) at the US Air Force Elmendorf Air Force Base (AFB) in the Anchorage Borough of Alaska. The Elmendorf AFB has operated the DRMO TSDF under EPA permit since 1993. Hazardous waste is transported to the DRMO TSDF from areas of Elmendorf AFB and from other Department of Defense facilities where the waste is stored, bulked and either transported out of state or recycled. The new permit when finalized will be in effect for ten years from the date of issuance. The public comment period runs September 2, 2003 through October 17, 2003.
