The primary objectives of the Landscape component of the EMAP are to:
- transfer landscape indicator and assessment technology to the Regions for conducting regional-scale landscape assessments with the aim of identifying areas that are most vulnerable to declines in aquatic resources and associated processes, and that are in need of restoration or risk reduction (targeting and prioritization);
- conduct landscape indicator quantification studies to assist in the interpretation of specific landscape indicators relative to water resources and associated processes;
- develop landscape approaches (including indicators and spatially-distributed models) to assist the Regions in dealing with key non-point source pollution issues related to water resources.
- assist the Regions in planning and implementing landscape assessments, and in interpreting results.
The EMAP-West Data Browsers are a demonstration of landscape ecological assessment products, reports, assessments, data studies, and analysis tools. | |
