EPA's Region 10 Dive Unit provides scientific diving services through inspections, sampling, surveys, contract oversight, and long-term monitoring. We support EPA programs as well as other agencies and governments. Visit our dive projects page to learn more about our work in Puget Sound and the Columbia River, and how we support discharge compliance, sediment management, biological surveys and other investigations in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.

An EPA diver talks with students EPA divers provide outreach to K-8 students in the greater Seattle area about ocean stewardship. Presentations typically include pictures and video of creatures in Puget Sound as well as contaminated underwater sites to show how EPA uses scientific diving to help protect the ocean environment. Students learn about what they can do to improve the health of Puget Sound. Divers bring an assortment of equipment for students to see and touch, and talk about the importance of math and science in becoming a diver.
