Data Available
Table 1, below, contains a description of data types available for the Boomsnub site, and also contains direct links to the data files described. Comprehensive groundwater data is available in two different formats - plain text, compressed (Option 1), or a standard Xbase format (.DBF) data file, also compressed (Option 2). The text file format data must be downloaded and uncompressed on the user's computer before it can be viewed directly. Similarly, the DBF-format data file must be downloaded and uncompressed, and then can be manipulated with most data management software packages, for the purpose, for example, of performing statistical analyses or generating custom reports of subsets of data.
Files containing information on monitoring well construction and locations are also referenced in Table 1. Option 3 links to a viewable plain text format file with well names and location coordinates; Option 4 links to a more comprehensive DBF-format data file containing identification, location, and additional well construction information. The groundwater sampling data files, accessible via Table 1, Options 1 or 2 above, each contain data presented as a single analytical value or observation per record or row. They constitute a complete set of analytical chemistry and other sampling parameters associated with the Boomsnub Site, Vancouver, Washington, for the period from 4/15/87 through 5/25/99. The files represent samples collected from 254 different monitoring locations, on 194 different dates, for 266 separate analytes, and each file contains 76,340 records.

Users Multipurpose Key (UMK) Code
The UMK is an optional code that can be added to the storage to denote more information about the analysis or sampling. For this particular data set, we have used the UMK to distinguish between two different analyses of the same sample for the same analyte, a situation which is not readily described by SMK or other types of coding. For this data set of 76,340 values, there are 126 pairs of results for the same analyte, one derived from a base-neutral extractible analysis and the other from a volatile organics analysis.
