Economic Development Overview Slides Page 1
With the decline in the mining industry, residents living within the boundaries of the Bunker Hill Superfund site faced a sustained unemployment rate of over 20%. The communities lost 7,000 of their 7,500 mining jobs. The communities voted to tax themselves $2 million to begin to attract the tourist industry into their area.
This slide shows the site for the Silver Valley Gondola prior to its construction.
The main building is nearing completion.
The construction is completed. The building and the parking area effectively cap contaminated ground.
