Case Studies

• Auto Body Project Report - This report describes a project where the Local Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County (LHWMP) visited 252 auto body shops in 2003 and 2004 and provided technical assistance on best management practices (BMPs) and compliance with hazardous waste regulations.
• Using Waterborne Basecoats in Collision Repair Shops: A Case Study (PDF) - This study presents information on waterborne paints, their benefits, challenges, and applications.
• Waterborne Coatings and the Auto Body Shop: A Status Report - This report presents a summary of the status of waterborne coating systems development. The findings provide current technical feasibility information to auto body shops and regulatory decision-makers.
• Helping the Auto Repair Industry Manage Hazardous Waste (PDF) (7pp, 1.3Mb) - This document reviews the actions of a team of environmental health specialists from Public Health—Seattle & King County, who made educational visits to 981 automotive repair shops. The purpose of the visits was to give the auto repair industry technical assistance on hazardous waste management without using enforcement action.
