Description
[Back to Top]

The Delta Rubber Company in Danielson, CT produces precision rubber products, such as ball bearing seals and windshield wiper blades, and previously operated a hazardous waste lagoon used for dewatering of metal finishing sludges generated on-site. Considerable work has been performed to investigate and cleanup contamination at the site.

Current Status
[Back to Top]

    In 2007, after careful study of the Delta Rubber Company facility, EPA and the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) made a determination that no further investigation and/or cleanup is needed at the facility under RCRA Corrective Action because:

    All suspected releases of hazardous waste and hazardous constituents at the facility have been adequately investigated;

    Previous cleanup actions have successfully removed hazardous waste and hazardous constituents to meet DEP standards; and

    An environmental land-use restriction will restrict the future use of the facility to industrial or commercial activities.

    The determination is documented in the 9/27/2007 Final Remedy Decision/Completion Determination/ Response to Comments. The basis for the decision is documented in the 8/1/2007 Statement of Basis. Links to both documents are available on this web page.
