Description

Coal gasification waste was dumped on Site from the mid 1960s until approximately 1984. Sampling and analysis indicates that polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) surface soil contamination is widespread. In the back yards of two private residential properties six different PAHs exceeded the Connecticut Remediation Standard Regulations Direct Exposure Criteria (CT RSRs) for soil. One of these PAHs, benzo(a)anthracene was detected at 73.5 Mg/Kg which is almost 75 times above the CT RSR.
