This site is considered both a Brownfields (BF) site and a Superfund short-term cleanup (SHORT) site.

A short term cleanup (REMOVAL) at the site was started on 6/16/98 and completed on 9/30/98.
A short term cleanup (REMOVAL) at the site was started on 11/16/98 and completed on 10/26/99.
Phase I Targeted Brownfields Assessment (TBA) was completed on 9/4/2001.

The property is a long and narrow piece of land along the banks of the Winnipesaukee River and according to the NH state- wide Shoreland Protection Act that limits development close to rivers in the state, it was not feasible to build any structures on this property for redevelopment. EPA removal actions program demolished the fire damaged building, removed the remaining wastes and established a grassed green space where the building used to sit.
