The Site consists of an approximately ½-acre lot at 2 Third Street in a densely-populated residential area in the Village of Turners Falls. The site included the remains of an approximately 10,000 square foot single-story building which was formerly used as a car dealership/repair facility and a storage facility. The facility is currently inactive. The Site has been abandoned for a number of years. The building was in an advanced state of disrepair. Windows were broken, and much of the roof had collapsed, making it impossible to safely enter the structure.

Lead and PCBs in surface soils, hazardous substances in drums and other containers, and possible asbestos in building materials posed a direct contact threat to local residents and those who may enter the Site. Access to the Site was unrestricted.
