Current Status
The City has completed work at the former Whitney Screw Site, converting the site into Goodale's Bike Shop. They assessed the Bennet Street Site and several asbestos contaminated sites throughout the City.
They were awarded $200,000 in an EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant in 2004 for remedial activities at 76 Temple Street in preparation for construction of a Senior Center. As of March 2006 much of the Senior Center is complete and some work remains to be conducted on the parking lot and surrounding area.
