The City of New Britain has received the following EPA Brownfields funding:

Assessment Grant ($200,000 - HS) in 1998 - Closed Out
Cleanup Grant for 207 Oak Street ($60,000 - Pet) in 2003

Through its Brownfields Assessment Demonstration Pilot, the city of New Britain is returning two local properties to use, creating 50 - 100 new jobs in the process. At the former Russell Erwin Building, a Walgreens store was constructed, which now brings additional tax revenue and currently employs 40 residents in the community. The Assessment grant was closed on 5/20/05.
