Current Status
A neighborhood study developed strategies to revitalize and conserve inner city neighborhoods by drafting specific design schemes for blighted and unutilized areas, including 3 properties that were assessed using EPA Brownfields funds - 84 Chestnut Street; the Old Depot site at the corner of Lincoln and Mechanic streets; and 56 Jefferson Street. The Mass Department of Housing and Community Development encouraged communities receiving Federal CDBG funds to conduct long-range planning in the use of these funds. The site plans generally envision mixed use development, although there is a variety of uses proposed.
