Definitions
A pop-up is a window, smaller than the full screen, intended to supplement the primary browser window.
Content requirements
- Use pop-ups only if the information in a pop-up relates back to the information in the existing window (for example, to define words).
- Whenever possible, use text identifiers to warn your visitors that clicking on a particular link, or on some or all of the links on your page, may open a pop-up.
Examples
Examples of acceptable pop-up content:
- The definition of a key term found on the original page
- Instructions on how to complete a form found on the original page
- A larger version of an image that appears on the original page
